Orono Welcomes Ms. Smith to Orono Middle and High Schools

We at the Orono schools welcome our new student teacher, Ms. Smith.

Carlena Smith is a senior at the University of Maine studying vocal music education. She worked at the Ogunquit Playhouse Childrens’ Theatre camps for 7 summers, and started at the Orono Parks and Recreation summer camp this past year. On campus, she sings with University Singers, Euphony, and is Music Director of UMaine Renaissance. She also runs a small voice studio. Miss Smith is very excited to be doing her student teaching in Orono and Veazie, and is looking forward to hopefully having her own classroom next year!

 

Meet Ms. Hinton-Student Teacher

Kaitlyn Hinton from Downeast Maine is our student teacher this semester. She is working with all grade levels in Veazie and Orono. She is a fourth-year vocal music education major at the University of Maine. Ms. Hinton presently performs with the University Singers, an eighty member auditioned choir at UMaine. She is also a member of UMaine’s premier female a cappella group, Renaissance. We look forward to seeing her perform with the UMaine Singers and Renaissance this March when they come to sing at Orono High School on Monday, March 5. We will also see her conduct  at the upcoming RSU 26 All-Choirs Concert on Tuesday, March 13 at UMaine’s Hauck Auditorium.
